Introduction to the Forum
(Ⅰ)Theme Interpretation
With its uninterrupted history stretching back millennia, Chinese civilization embodies an enduring vitality and a spirit of openness and inclusiveness. Chinese archaeology is a discipline that is deeply rooted in interdisciplinary collaboration and cross-cultural dialogue. It is dedicated to tracing the origins and development of civilization through empirical evidence, in order to reveal historical truths.
Over the past decade, Chinese archaeology has yielded groundbreaking insights into the continuity and diversity of Chinese civilization, fueled by high-quality development under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the ongoing progress of the Chinese Civilization Exploration Project. These discoveries have provided robust academic support for raising historical awareness and boosting cultural confidence. At the same time, Chinese archaeology has played an active role in international efforts to research and preserve cultural heritage, contributing unique historical wisdom and advancing the vision of a Global Community with a Shared Future for Mankind.
The inaugural PKU International Graduate Student Forum of Archaeology, held in December 2024, successfully built a new platform for young archaeologists from domestic and international backgrounds to showcase their research, exchange ideas, and foster mutual understanding and cooperation. To further promote high-level archaeological research and international collaborative innovation, the 2025 PKU International Graduate Student Forum of Archaeology, titled 'Treasures Gathering at Yan Yuan: China's Moment in Archaeology', will be held at Peking University from 25 to 26 October 2025. The forum is open to exceptional graduate students and young archaeology scholars around the globe, providing them with opportunities to present their latest academic work and engage in international academic communication and collaboration.
