联合国教科文组织外部评估专家一行访问北京大学

5月28日上午,联合国教科文组织外部评估专家、法国Learning Avenue咨询公司副主任Elçin Bahçeci女士一行访问北京大学,对联合国教科文组织亚太地区世界遗产培训与研究中心(以下简称"亚太遗产中心")北京分中心开展现场评估。北京大学党委常委、副校长初晓波会见评估专家并参加评估活动。来自北京大学考古文博学院、城市与环境学院、建筑与景观设计学院的北京分中心负责人和专家团队,以及亚太遗产中心秘书处相关负责人出席活动。

On the morning of 28 May, Ms. Elçin Bahçeci, UNESCO external evaluation expert and Deputy Director of Learning Avenue Consulting (France), visited Peking University to conduct an on-site evaluation of the Beijing Sub-Centre of the World Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and the Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (WHITR-AP). Vice President Chu Xiaobo received Ms. Bahçeci and participated in the evaluation activities. Representatives of the Beijing Sub-Centre from the School of Archaeology and Museology, the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, and the College of Architecture and Landscape Design at Peking University, as well as the leadership of the WHITR-AP Secretariat, attended the meeting.

初晓波对Bahçeci女士的到访表示热烈欢迎,感谢她和评估团队对北京大学及亚太遗产中心工作的关注与支持。他表示,此次评估是对亚太遗产中心北京分中心近年来工作成效的全面检视,也为中心进一步完善机构体系、提升工作质量提供了重要指引。北京大学与联合国教科文组织合作渊源深厚,作为亚太遗产中心北京分中心的承办单位,学校将一如既往地全力支持中心良好运作和持续发展,相信续约后中心将在亚太地区世界遗产保护事业中发挥更大的作用。

Vice President Chu warmly welcomed Ms. Bahçeci and expressed appreciation for the attention of her and the evaluation team to the work of Peking University and WHITR-AP. He noted that this evaluation represents a comprehensive review of the Beijing Sub-Centre's recent work and an important opportunity for the Centre to further strengthen its institutional framework and raise the quality of its programmes. Peking University has a longstanding history of cooperation with UNESCO, and as the host institution of the Beijing Sub-Centre, the University will continue to provide its full support for the Centre's effective operation. Chu expressed confidence that, following the renewal of its mandate, the Centre will play an even greater role in the conservation of World Heritage across the Asia-Pacific region.

会谈中,亚太遗产中心北京分中心主任沈睿文、执行主任李光涵分别就北京分中心2020年以来开展的主要工作和代表性项目进行了汇报。双方就北京大学在自然与文化遗产保护方面的多学科优势与实践成果、中心承担的国际合作项目情况及北京分中心未来发展方向等议题展开了深入交流。

During the meeting, WHITR-AP Beijing Sub-Centre Director Shen Ruiwen and Executive Director Li Kuanghan presented the main work and representative projects undertaken by the Sub-Centre since 2020. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on Peking University's multidisciplinary strengths and practical achievements in cultural and natural heritage conservation, the Centre's international cooperation initiatives, and the future development of the Beijing Sub-Centre.

Bahçeci女士充分肯定了北京大学对亚太遗产中心发展的大力支持,以及北京分中心在落实《世界遗产公约》、促进亚太地区合作与交流、推动世界遗产可持续发展及自身能力建设等方面取得的积极成绩。Bahçeci女士表示,本次评估将就亚太遗产中心与UNESCO续签协议提出重要建议,评估报告将为中心的未来规划与发展提供重要指导。

Ms. Bahçeci highly commended Peking University's strong support for the development of WHITR-AP, and affirmed the achievements of the Beijing Sub-Centre in implementing the World Heritage Convention, fostering regional cooperation and exchange, promoting the sustainable development of World Heritage, and building institutional capacity. She noted that the evaluation will inform recommendations for the renewal of WHITR-AP's agreement with UNESCO, and that the final evaluation report will provide important guidance for the Centre's future planning and development.

评估期间,Bahçeci女士还实地考察了燕南园历史建筑群及北京大运河沿线遗址,深入了解了北京分中心参与开展的遗产保护与研究项目。

During the evaluation visit, Ms. Bahçeci also conducted on-site inspections of the historic Yannan Garden and heritage sites along the Beijing section of the Grand Canal, gaining a first-hand understanding of the heritage conservation and research projects undertaken by the Beijing Sub-Centre.

WHITR-AP is a UNESCO Category 2 Centre established in China in 2008. It is the first Category 2 centre in the field of heritage conservation established in a developing country, dedicated to the conservation and sustainable development of World Heritage in the Asia-Pacific region. Guided by its Governing Board, the Centre operates through three sub-centres in Beijing, Shanghai and Suzhou, together with its Secretariat. Peking University hosts the Beijing Sub-Centre.
